Maori student art exhibition opens in Hastings

See the best of Hawke's Bay student Maori art, including work featured in the recent national Ringa Toi exhibition in Wellington, at an exhibition in Hastings. Te Haaro o te Kaahu/ The Soaring Hawk exhibition is upstairs at the Hastings Community Arts Centre until November 22.

Participating schools include William Colenso College, Napier Boys' High, Te Kura Kaupapa Maori o Ngāti Kahungunu ki Heretaunga, Flaxmere College, Sacred Heart, Tamatea High, Te Kura Kaupapa Maori o Te Ara Hou, and Taikura Rudolf Steiner.

The exhibition is sponsored by the Hawke's Bay Principals' Association.

Year 13 Taikura Rudolf Steiner student Tara Browne is pictured with her painting, Pacifica.

Flaxmere College student Promise Taumata’s carving, Wheku, is one of about 60 works in the show.
