The guiding principle of MANA AKE overlays all Terms & Conditions for administration and membership use of this site.

To achieve Mana Ake, marae, hapū and whānau understand and embrace the taonga of manaakitanga. 

Mana refers to the binding and commitment towards the kaupapa but most importantly, to upholding the honour of the marae, hapū and whānau collective;

aki is to encourage each other no matter how difficult the task may be at hand; 

tanga is the action taken to ensure a positive outcome for all.

Members must abide by the Mana Ake statement above when submitting items for publication on this site.  They must also seek permissions for information and imagery not belonging to them where possible & acknowledge sources where known.

Page administrators are subject to the above tikanga, the Marae Waakainga communications Charter, Marae participation Agreements, and importantly cultural permissions where necessary.

Privacy Statement – Members & Administrators

We are committed to respecting the privacy of whanau, marae and hapu information and will handle this information with care.

What data do we collect?

We only have access to collect information that you voluntarily give us via Login, email, web form or other direct contact from you. That is, your name, contact information such as phone number, and email address. When you visit our website we also collect information such as your IP address and the time and date you accessed the website.

We will use your information to respond to you, regarding the reason you contacted us. We will not share your information with any third party outside of our organisation, other than as necessary to fulfil your request.

Will I be asked for consent?

When you fill out our online member enrolment form or complete a survey we take your action of completing those forms to be consent. Online surveys are anonymous.

What will my data be used for?

Your personal information (name, contacts) will not be used however data from ‘hits’ on specific areas on the site or similar may be used to create a profile of the community we service for Site planning and development purposes. That is, we are able to adapt our site to best suit the community’s site experience.

We provide a contact email on our website that you can use to send any queries you may have.  Any personal data from your use of our email will be erased after handling the query or enquiry you submitted to us.  The type of query will be noted so we can see where whanau could be better served by information we provide on the website.

Who will be use or see my data?

Contact Information may be shared with your marae page administrator who is directly involved in managing the marae page that you have nominated for communications purposes. 

NB: Please be aware that in certain circumstances if we have serious concerns about your safety or the safety of others or a statutory request we may share your information with an appropriate third party.

Is my data secure?

All reasonable steps are taken to prevent the loss, unauthorised access, use, modification, misuse or disclosure of personal information and all administrator practice adheres to this policy.

Will my data be anonymous?

Yes. Information that is used for Site research and statistical purposes is non-identifiable.

Can I correct data about me?

Members have the opportunity to correct or change their information via the Site Manager. There are key steps involved to changing individual membership login details e.g. may involve deleting a current login in order for a new one to be established.  Rescinding of membership can be requested via the Site manager.
