FAMILY NOTICE

It is with sadness in our hearts we share the passing of our taonga Ruruhira TAWHAI , peacefully surrounded by her whānau.

Much loved daughter of the late George and Ngaikiha (Hanky) Tawhai.

 

Cherished sister of Amiria (deceased) & Herbert (deceased), Billy Nuku, Don and Bernadette, Huia (deceased), Mare and Pat (deceased), George & Sheryl (deceased), Moana & Ken, Hina & Francis, Paul & Sue, Aroha (deceased) & Dennis, John and Brenda, Ngaikiha, William & Kate.

A beautiful mum of Caine and Marama, adored nan to her precious mokopuna, Kyaan, Manaaki and Rangitane.

Mum will be lying at Omahu Marae from Tuesday 13 July, nehu 11.00am Thursday 18th July.

 

“Love, Peace and Happiness always”.

 

 Ruruhira worked as a social worker in the Māori Women’s Refuge – Tangata Piringa where she supported many women and their families to find the strength to progress through their life’s journey. She was a founding member of the Ngāti Kahungunu Iwi Incorporated Te Tumu Whakahaere o Te Wero – Whakamoe Patu leadership group, that was set up initially to create an iwi Violence Free strategy. Ruruhira always advocated for whānau wellbeing and was always gave of herself willingly to support those whom she loved most dearly, her family. She will be sadly missed.
